Biography

Carlo Costa was born in Rome, Italy. He started playing drums when he was about ten years old, and eventually studied music at the St Louis Music Academy of Rome. From 2001 to 2005 he studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After graduating he moved to New York City to attend the City College of New York’s Masters program in jazz performance, which he successfully completed in 2007. Over the years he has studied with illustrious musicians and educators such as Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, Adam Cruz, Ellery Eskelin, Cameron Brown, Drew Gress, Jamie Haddad, Ian Froman and Susie Ibarra. In the past few years he has performed in Austria, Italy, Norway, Macedonia and the US in a wide variety of contexts. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where he teaches music and performs regularly.
